Tour an Amish Home

Our tour house was formerly the home of an Amish bishop who along with his wife raised 11 children here. The home was built in 1848 and remodeled to show todays' Amish lifestyle. Many people are surprised at the nice homes the Amish live in.

There is a lot of interesting history about this home available to read as you move from room to room and this home will show you the lifestyle of two different types of Amish that live here in Holmes County.

Currently there are more than 10 Amish groups that live in our area with the most known group being called the Old Order Amish. Throughout the home you will read about the unique lifestyles and about various ways the Amish do things. You will learn the why behind the traditions as well as the traditions themselves.

Alma who is often in the kitchen baking cookies and making candy will be happy to visit with you and answer any questions you may have.

The home is available Monday through Saturday (May-October) at 10 am and tours are available until 4:30 each day. When you plan to visit the home please allow at least 30 minutes.
